Choosing a style for you room can be a tricky task. Quite often, the attention is in the detail and it is the smaller things that make the bigger picture. Thinking small and accessorising your new room will add character and charm, and is a great way to express not only your personality, but the room itself.

With the realm of home DIY and re-styling ever growing in popularity, there are opportunities for inspiration everywhere, from showrooms to television programmes, magazines to websites.

Pick a theme to create and work out a design plan accordingly. Enhance a style by picking furniture which matches the colour scheme. Simple, neutral toned furniture would work with pastel coloured paint and wallpaper for example.

Of course, it does also depend which room you are re-styling. Modern art, for example, is more suited to a loft conversion or new build home, whereas a decorative array of collectable figurines or classic paintings would look stunning in a period home. Check out the Compton and Woodhouse site for some good examples!

Adding Figurines to the room bring a degree of elegance and class, and with many different figurines available, there would be one to suit any style of room you choose.

Think about adding a contemporary lamp or an antique clock to your new room. Well chosen artwork and positioned mirrors can add a sense of space to the room.

Remember, a little effort goes a long way!
